- I completed 30 extra hours. During my time I mostly observed my mentor but I also did things like cut hair and design nails.I designed the nails before I decided to just focus my project on hair styling.
- The days I go to my mentor ship, I usually do 4-7 hours. On some Saturdays I arrive when they open, so I get to do the whole 8 hours. This demonstrates the 30 hours because I decide to go in on extra days and stay longer hours with my mentor. Some days I assist her on dying hair and when doing a complicated job, it can take up to 1 1/2 to 2 hours at most. Before I just focused on hair styling, I have had to design some nails, and when doing the ones which require acrylic I took a long time because my mentor has to explain how to apply it properly. 3. APPLIED
- The way this component helped me understand the foundation of my topic was showing me first had how to do certain jobs on people. It also showed me how to act towards clients and, although I'm not sure if this has to do with the foundation, how to build a steady flow of customers and how to run a salon. For example, my mentor once had a very picky client come in. She wanted a very specific type of hair color. She wanted it to start dark at the top and get lighter as it reached the tips. This client was new so my mentor listened to everything she wanted. Throughout the process, the lady was very talkative. My mentor was very courteous while the lady was talking, but I also noticed she didn't exactly get involved in the lady's issues and personal life. The lady actually told my mentor she would go back to in order for her to retouch the hair.
